Smart People

Smart people are an unrecognized and, therefore, unprotected minority. They can be discriminated against by the stupid and the ignorant with complete impunity. Racial minorities, oppressed life styles, gender differences, and exotic creeds all have some protections under the law. Smart people, however, are on their own. Intelligence -- like goodness -- is its own reward and its own punishment.
