Lacking

Some people are just lacking. In intelligence, in sophistication, in insight, in empathy, in common sense, in emotional depth. It isn't their fault. They were born that way or raised that way; I don't know which. Don't argue with them. Argument is pointless. They will never see your point or anyone else's. Don't be sarcastic. They don't understand sarcasm. They will only mistake it for cruelty. Cut them out of your life if you must, but do so as gently as you can. They will never understand you, but that doesn't make them bad people. They aren't stupid, they aren't wicked, they aren't blind or deaf, and they aren't being difficult on purpose. They are just lacking.
